A 10 day recce in Sardinia looking at former metal mines and learning about the island's rich industrial and mineral history.

In Summer 2025, we were fortunate enough to spend ten days in Sardinia with the Association Villaggio Normann exploring galena, a vital component in early crystal radios. Through meetings with geologists, speleologists, artists, archivists, architects, sailors and miners, we traced the mineral’s journey from its formation to its extraction, to it’s export.
Thanks to the many people we met on our way, especially : Villaggio Normann in Iglesias, Landworks in Argentiera, visual artist Marta Fontana in Carloforte.
