Pont de Belju

Combining on location installations, sonic interventions and online creation, the 'Belju' project 2009 aimed to examine the border regions of the Canton du Jura in Switzerland and the Territoire de Belfort in France, through various ways of listening, recording and play back.

Artists were invited on short residencies set at various different locations in the area, each asked to document aspects of the experience and  understandings of the frontier in his or her own way. Listening to these carefully modelled soundscapes, other kind of borders appear as well:  between nature and the built environment , country and city, knowledge and feeling, figuration and abstraction.

Bird & Renoult, One Track Platform

The original Pont de Belju project was conceived and developed by Gilles Aubry, Stéphane Montavon and Carl Y. Featuring the following artists, including DinahBird and Jean-Philippe Renoult, Helena Gough, Eric Cordier, Gilles Aubry, Stéphane Montavon, Pali Mersault, Michael Northam, Duncan Whitley and Carl Y.

Universinternational Records says of this web-only project: « As we didn’t want to just put up a net-release that would be another list of files, we tried to think about what a digital edition should and could be, and we have created a veritable listening environment, a singular space dedicated to that collective project. »
