Surface Bruit

Dinah performs with her home-made records and un-cut 78s.

Surface Bruit is not the type of sound we usually try to reproduce.

This performance uses home made records and field recordings. It is about what early records were made of and how they were made. Using low-grade home-made 7″ records, a Teppaz record player, a gramophone, and forgotten elements of her growing collection of 78s Dinah continues her research into surface noise and shellac production.

Recent dates include, Entangled Sounds ( curated by Karin Weissenbrunner ) series at KM28, sept 24, Berlin.

And roundtable on the intersections of archival research, fieldwork and art practice conducted by Moushumi Bhowmik  singer, researcher and archivist of sound. It is being held as part of a Dystopia Sound Art Biennial 2024.
